Finnair Business Saver flights from Oslo to Singapore starting at ~$1,460

Finnair has some very good prices for tickets in Business class originating from Oslo to Singapore, via Helsinki. Some of the cheapest fares in Business Class starts from NOK13,363, with departure availability on some Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This translates to fares of around $1,460 (or S$1,990). This is a nice deal for passengers based in northern Europe for long-haul flights to South-East Asia since there are plenty of cheap regional flights from Singapore.

Transit times are reasonably short with 1 hour in Helsinki on the outbound and 1 hour 30 minutes on the inbound. Since Helsinki is a smaller airport compared to the larger hubs of Paris and Frankfurt in Europe, I think these short layover times are still manageable, and with the booking under one ticket and all flights operated by Finnair, I would not worry too much in cases of missed connections.

The schedule for the flight are as follows:

AY918 Oslo – Helsinki
20:25-22:55
Operated by NORRA Embraer 190

Transfer time 1 h 0 min

AY131 Helsinki-Singapore
23:55-17:15 (+1)
Operated by Finnair Airbus A350-900

AY132 Singapore-Helsinki
23:45-06:00(+1)
Operated by Finnair Airbus A350-900

Transfer time 1 h 30 min

AY911 Helsinki-Oslo
07:30-08:10
Operated by NORRA Embraer 190

Availability with this fare is limited, though I see availability in nearly every week on January and February. Booking classes for this ticket is in the I class category which is Finnair’s Business Saver. This means changes to the ticket are charged at EUR250 before or after departure, while cancellations before departure are charged at 25%, while no refunds are possible after departure. Thus this deal works best if your travel plans are fixed.

For travellers based in Asia, you could create a nested itinerary with this fare, by redeeming miles for another flight between South East Asia and Europe and purchasing this fare so you can get 2 trips to Europe. This is possible since there are availability from Oslo to Singapore on January/February and from Singapore to Oslo on August/September. This means one can enjoy both winter and summer in Europe.

The long haul flights between Helsinki and Singapore are operated by Finnair’s new A350 which is has reverse herringbone seats in a 1-2-1 arrangement. This is as modern as it gets in terms of hard product for an airline.
