In order to maximize my stay in Bali, I spent the last night at the Hilton Garden Inn which can be considered an airport hotel as it is located next to the airport. Even though it is next to the airport, it is slightly far to walk here as there is no shelter. As a Hilton Garden Inn, this hotel is a limited service property and the exterior is quite standard with the entry feeling like the suburban hotels in North America.
Inside the lobby which is once again open to the porch giving it a resort feel, there was a concierge desk that could book tours and some sofas. I arrived earlier in the morning around 11am though I had a lunch appointment and since the room was not ready, I left my luggage with the bell desk. The atmosphere of the hotel is definitely more like a suburban hotel chain and is quite compact. That means it can be crowded and noisy when the tour groups arrive to check in.
The hotel runs deep with elevators at both ends reaching the rooms and the central atrium taken up by the hotel’s only restaurant with a lounge and bar space nearer to the reception desk.
Along one side of the walkway, sliding glass partitions opens up to the courtyard with its own swimming pool and a row of loungers sit across. Guests could use this walkway on the ground floor to access to the room at the end which was where my room was.
Room No: 3070 Category: Executive Suite
Since I was a Hilton Diamond member during my stay, I was upgraded to their suite located on the corner. Upon entrance, guests would see the whole living room in view. On the left of the entrance is a dining nook with a table and 3 chairs.
There is a small powder room with a sink and toilet beside the dining nook. This is convenient for guests staying in the suite to entertain friends visiting over.
And on the right side of the door lined by the wall is a minibar cabinet. However this cabinet is empty in limited service hotel chains like the Hilton Garden Inn. At the top of the cabinet, there is a kettle and some cups with tea bags and instant coffee sachets. In other words the basic coffee and tea kit.
Next there is a work desk with comfortable swivelling chair beside the sofa in the living room. Across from the sofa there is a wall mounted TV.
There is another flat screen TV inside the bedroom with a door separating the bedroom from the living room. Underneath the TV inside the bedroom, there is a luggage bench with a closet located beside it.
The rest of the small bedroom is filled with a comfortable King sized bed and a bench at the bottom of the bed.
On the right of the bedroom is a spacious bathroom that has both a walk-in shower and a bathtub. The bathroom is furnished in a modern decor with gray tiles instead of the usual marble tiles. The countertop uses basic materials as well but the whole setup fits well and works well.
The bathtub and toilet are located on the left of the countertop and being a relatively new hotel, they are modern and clean. Bath toiletries provided are by a local brand called ‘Archive’. They are still individually packed with other amenities like vanity kits and dental sets provided as well.
Breakfast is served in the hotel’s only restaurant called Garden Grill in the lobby. However as I had a morning flight, I did not partake in the breakfast, opting for the points instead. Hilton Diamond guests either choose the points or the breakfast as the benefits in Hilton Garden Inn properties.
A section of the restaurant is used as a lounge with a bar area, making it suitable for relaxing all day or after dinner drinks.
Since the hotel is in Bali, the poolside is one of the prominent feature. In the day or by the night the pool deck is a nice place to hang out in. There are lounge chairs around the pool and lush vegetation all around creates a comfortable pool area. The hotel also has a basic fitness room on the mezzanine floor but the equipments are fairly limited that it is not worth mentioning.
Room rates here around IDR850,000++ which comes down to around IDR1,000,000 (~$70) after taxes. At this price it was similar to the Four Points by Sheraton in Kuta that I have stayed before. However this hotel is convenient for guests having an early flight out of the airport or arriving late into Bali. With the proximity to the airport, the hotel provides a complimentary shuttle and travellers can get in and out of the hotel quickly for a much needed rest. For travellers seeking to stay in Bali and explore the island on a budget, I can certainly recommend this hotel especially if one would be out of the hotel for most of the day since this hotel does have limited facilities on offer.
